Change, Change, Change; I feel like that is becoming a household word. Yet as my inner feelings and prophetic senses speak I believe the action of that word is about to impact our lives in a whole new way. The calendar has changed to what the western world knows as a new year, the leading authorities of our land are changing, America is receiving a new president, and the prophets are foretelling that the church is facing the greatest change of this century.
A new season of the church is upon us. I and many other church leaders are acutely aware of the reality that “we have not walked this way before.” The prophets of God are telling us we will not be able to do things the way that we have in the past. The paths we travel will only be passed in victory as we are completely obedient to the direction of the Holy Spirit. The way we war will also be different. We are going to have to be diligent and very strategic in standing against the tactics of the enemy. However, in it all, we know that Jesus has given us the ability to overcome and God’s plans will prevail. That brings me great excitement as we face this.
In consideration of these changes I have great concern for the strife and division that exists and has escalated in our nation. I believe it has released a strong spirit of confusion into the atmosphere that in the natural feels almost impossible to penetrate. It appears very different than what we have experienced in the past. It is so much more than being upset, indecisive or angry. It is bigger than feeling disappointed or waking up with a sense of discouragement. It is actively irritating all of society and causing physical warfare and division in many areas. People are acting out in numerous expressions of wickedness and the very air we breathe seems to be permeated with a great weight of heaviness. The best way I can explain the weightiness that is hanging in the atmosphere in regard to this is the difference between having a canopy made from a cotton sheet loosely covering you or being weighted under a lead apron that is attached on every side.
I sense, the reality is, this spirit is not just hanging over us but it stands to launch its wickedness into the plans of God for each of us in this new season. This will cause the church to entertain greater division and one more time be stalemated and set back years rather than advancing forward. We must seek God for divine strategies to bring this thing down. We will not maneuver these waters with the methods of the past. Our previous opinions, religious mindsets and methods will not accomplish victory against this wicked plan. We must rise up and war at a new level. And, we have to be willing for the Spirit of the Lord to direct us in the ways that only He knows will be effective to break through this spirit.
God is calling for radical change. We must set a guard to protect this timely move for the church. Strife and envy brings not only confusion, but according to the Word, every evil work. God created us to bring Him Glory, as the sons and daughters of God are manifest in this earth it will bring the church to the position required for that glory to be seen by all men. This is a great opportunity for the church to take her rightful place upon the earth. It is not a time to fight within her but rather to fight the works of evil. We must determine to submit ourselves under the hand of God to be trained in new ways. Let’s not allow any spirit of the enemy, including confusion, stop the progressive plans of God to advance His kingdom in this hour.
James 3:16-18, For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. NKJV
